Tolzien wants to 'play like a kid' in replacing concussed Luck

With Andrew Luck sidelined with a concussion and likely to miss Thursday's contest with the Pittsburgh Steelers, backup Scott Tolzien is hoping to keep things simple in spot duty.

Two years Luck's elder, Tolzien wants to channel his inner youth on Thanksgiving. The mild-mannered quarterback likes to keep the drama to a minimum and just play the game.

"I don't know if that's who I am or who I'm not, but I think it's really about the preparation and always remembering it's a kid's game," Tolzien said about his mild demeanor, according to ESPN's Mike Wells. "I've played this game since I was 7 years old when I started.

"You have to remember that always you still have to prepare, but when game day comes, play like a kid and play it loose."

On a short week, Tolzien stayed at the Colts facility until 10:30 p.m. Monday studying film and preparing for the third start of his six-year career. The 29-year-old last played for the Green Bay Packers, starting two games in 2013.

Tolzien has completed 56-of-91 career passes for 721 yards with one touchdown and five interceptions.
