Osweiler: Laser pointers during Monday nighter were 'very distracting'

The Houston Texans certainly were the road team in Monday night's game in Mexico City as at least one fan focused on quarterback Brock Osweiler with a laser pointer throughout the game.

"I'm still gathering information on what exactly took place, but all I know at this point is when we were out there on the field on offense, there were multiple times I saw a green laser coming from the stands," Osweiler said after the game, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Osweiler played through the hindrance, completing 26 of 39 passes for 243 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in a narrow 27-20 loss, but he admitted he could have done without the extra obstacle.

"There were a couple of times it definitely hit me in the eye. And it was very noticeable," he said. "I never want to say one thing is a difference-maker, but certainly, having a laser zoomed in on your eyeball definitely affects how you play a game."

Thousands of fans packed the Estadio Azteca and the majority were in support of the Oakland Raiders. The fans provided an atmosphere that is often seen at soccer games.

"I've never experienced a laser being shined in my eyeball during a football game, let alone a professional football game in the National Football League," said Osweiler, who called the occurrence "very distracting."

"So I think it was certainly disappointing. At the end of the day, that's not why we lost the game. That was just one small factor, but it certainly affected how I was playing."
