Sherman on Wentz: 'You're not going to win a ballgame throwing slants'

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman offered a candid appraisal of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz following their showdown Sunday.

Sherman picked off Wentz during the 26-15 victory, as the Seahawks' secondary made the rookie quarterback miserable all game.

Wentz went 23-of-45 for 218 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions during the game, and Sherman shared his strategy for shutting him down.

"You're not going to win a ballgame throwing slants the whole game. Eventually, you’re going to make a mistake," Sherman said to USA Today's Tom Pelissero. "We don't worry about things like that. We knew eventually he had to take his shot and we were happy to be there. We should've got another one."

However, Sherman praised Wentz's demeanor.

"He was poised. He wasn't shook. He's a rook. That's what he is."
