Jones expects Romo to play in nanosecond if called upon

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones outlined his expectations for Tony Romo, now that he's officially listed as the team's second-string quarterback.

Romo suffered a fractured vertebra in his back during the preseason and rookie Dak Prescott was inserted into the starting lineup as a result. Although the veteran quarterback is recovered from the injury, Prescott's outstanding form made him irreplaceable.

Jones spoke about what he expects from Romo for the rest of the year, after Prescott led the Cowboys to their ninth consecutive victory Sunday.

"I want him to go in a nanosecond when they call for him,” Jones said, according to Nunzio Ingrassia of FOX Sports. "And that’s what he’s prepared to do. And my experience in football with that top position in quarterback is that ultimately you need him."

Romo gave Prescott his endorsement earlier in the week, and it appears that he's accepted his new role for the time being.
