Elliott breaks Cowboys' rookie record for rushing yards in a season

Jason Bridge / USA TODAY Sports

Ezekiel Elliott broke the Dallas Cowboys' rookie record for most rushing yards in a season with a two-yard carry in the first drive Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

The rookie runner run broke the record previously held by Tony Dorsett, who rushed for 1,007 yards in 1977.

Dallas went 12-2 that season and won the Super Bowl.

In rushing for over 1,000 yards in nine games, Elliott joins Eric Dickerson and Adrian Peterson as the only players to do so in their rookie years.
