Panthers' Cam Newton: Posts mediocre performance in Week 11 win

Newton completed 14 of 33 passes for 192 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in Thursday's 23-20 win over the Saints. He also gained seven yards on five rushes.

Analysis:

The sixth-year pro was under 200 yards passing for the third time this season while throwing a touchdown for the third consecutive contest. However, Newton's 42.4 completion percentage was easily his worst in any game this season, particularly surprising given the porous nature of the Saints defense. The highlight of his night was clearly his second-quarter, 40-yard touchdown pass to Ted Ginn, but Newton also had a key 18-yard completion to Kelvin Benjamin on third down from the Panthers' 15-yard line with 2:39 remaining, which enabled Carolina to eventually punt the ball back to the Saints with only 28 seconds on the clock. The reigning MVP will look to bounce back out west against the Raiders in Week 12.
