Witten doesn't believe Romo is retiring 'anytime soon'

Jason Witten has been Tony Romo's best buddy on the Dallas Cowboys' roster for the past decade.

While it appears Romo's days in Dallas are numbered, Witten doesn't believe we've seen the last of his veteran quarterback in the NFL.

"I don't think he's planning on retiring anytime soon," Witten told Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. "I wouldn't bet against him."

Like the rest of us, Witten didn't get any notice that Romo would be making the announcement he did on Tuesday. Nonetheless, he was impressed with the speech.

"You really can't say it better than how he said it," Witten said. "I think the words that he said about Dak and the way he addressed it, I think it's great for everyone on this football team.

"The best thing this team has done has just limited and eliminated the distractions, and that's for everybody and we've got to continue to do that. And I think Tony certainly took the lead in how he approached it and we move forward."

While trying to keep the attention on the task at hand, the veteran tight end says he and the team aren't focusing on the fact that Romo may have already taken his last snap as a Cowboy.

"I don't think that's entered my mind," Witten said. "It hasn't entered anybody's mind."
