Prescott praises Romo as mentor

As classy as Tony Romo's passing of the torch to Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys rookie's acceptance was right there with it.

Following Romo's emotional endorsement on Tuesday, Prescott reciprocated the love for his veteran mentor.

"He's been a great leader, a great model for me to look up to and watch every day," Prescott said Wednesday, according to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk. "It was an emotional statement for him to say that, but I'm not surprised.

"I know how much he cares about this game, how much it means to him, how much he puts into it every day, how much this team means to him."

While Romo implied that the Cowboys are no longer his team, Prescott deflected the attention, calling it "our team."

"This is everybody’s team," said Prescott. "It's not just about the quarterback position."
