Buccaneers' Evans says he tried to vote, vows to use platform to help

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans apologized again Wednesday for not standing during the national anthem Sunday.

"If I had to do it over again, I would have done it differently, but I would still use my platform to help," he said, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.

Evans sat for the anthem to protest the results of the presidential election, won by Donald Trump. After promising to continue his protest for as long as Trump is the president-elect, he wrote in a statement Tuesday that he wouldn't sit again.

In relation to his protest, he was also questioned Wednesday about his decision not to vote. The receiver said he did try to vote in Tampa but was only a registered voter in Galveston County, Texas - his hometown.

Evans called it a "mistake," and promised "it won't happen again," according to Laine.
