Browns' Robert Griffin: Cleared for non-contact work

Griffin (shoulder) has been cleared for non-contact activities but is not expected to practice this week, Cleveland.com reports.

Analysis:

Griffin is close to being ready to resume playing, but the Browns have to designate him as their player to return from injured reserve before he is allowed to take the practice field, and since the rules allow only one such player to come off IR in a season, the team wants to be certain he will be able to play again this year before making that call. The Browns will wait at least a week to make the decision.
