Rams' Fisher confirms Keenum will remain starter Week 10 vs. Jets

The Los Angeles Rams are standing by their quarterback.

Despite yet another disappointing offensive performance leading to the club's fourth consecutive loss, and No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff waiting in the wings, head coach Jeff Fisher announced Monday that Case Keenum will remain the starter in Week 10 against the New York Jets.

"Jared's Improving," Fisher said, via Myles SImmons of the team's official website. "But Case, right now, especially against this defense, gives us our best chance."

The notion that the Rams would be better off with Keenum taking the reins while Goff adjusts to the professional level hasn't exactly been proven accurate over the first half of the season.

Los Angeles ranks 25th in average passing yards, and defenses have been able to limit the effectiveness of Todd Gurley in the running game as a direct result.

Fisher is continuing to preach patience with Goff, though, saying the rookie will get his chance to play when he's ready.

"We're taking our time," Fisher said, via Joe Curley of The Ventura County Star. "We're being patient. When we feel it's the right time, he'll be under center."

Keenum and the rest of the Rams' offense will have a relatively favorable matchup this week in New York, as the Jets' defense ranks 24th in scoring with an average of 26.1 points allowed.
