Jets' Ryan Fitzpatrick: Diagnosed with sprained MCL

Fitzpatrick suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Analysis:

Fitzpatrick made a brief exit before ultimately finishing Sunday's game with the injury, which comes just a week before the Jets' bye. Although his ailment isn't considered serious and head coach Todd Bowles said Fitzpatrick will start this Sunday against the Rams, if he's healthy, the looming rest period, along with Fitzpatrick's poor play overall, should make New York's quarterback situation interesting to monitor as the week unfolds. If the MCL sprain impacts Fitzpatrick's status, Bryce Petty could make his first career start versus a Los Angeles team with quarterback issues of its own.
