Report: Broncos place C.J. Anderson on IR

Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson has been placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery on his meniscus, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Anderson won't be eligible to return for at least eight weeks, if at all, as he recovers from the knee surgery, meaning he likely won't be back on the field before the playoffs.

Conflicting reports emerged over Anderson's health on Friday. It was initially suggested he could return to the field in as little as four weeks before Rapoport indicated later in the afternoon that the fourth-year pro would be out months.

Rookie Devontae Booker will become the team's full-time starter in Anderson's absence.

Anderson will finish the season with 565 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns.
