Seahawks' Bennett out vs. Saints, could require surgery

The Seattle Seahawks have ruled out defensive end Michael Bennett (knee) and safety Kam Chancellor (groin) for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

Head coach Pete Carroll said Friday it's "possible" Bennett could require surgery for cartilage damage to his knee, according to Gregg Bell of the News Tribune, but the team won't know more until he's examined on Monday.

This will be the first game Bennett has missed since 2011. The 30-year-old left Seattle's Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons with a knee injury, but suited up against the Arizona Cardinals last week. Second-year pro Frank Clark is expected to see increased snaps without Bennett available.

Chancellor has not played since Week 4 against the New York Jets, while Kelcie McCray has been starting in Chancellor's usual strong safety spot.

Running back Thomas Rawls (fibula), tight end Luke Willson (knee), offensive tackle Bradley Sowell (knee), linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (ankle), and cornerback DeAndre Elliott (hamstring) will also be inactive for Sunday's game.
