Anderson thanks fans, says he won't know extent of injury until after surgery

Isaiah J. Downing / USA TODAY Sports

It's been a busy Thursday for Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson.

He quickly denied - then deleted his denial - a report that he had told people he was out for the season before having his knee examined. After his examination, it was reported again that he could be out for the season, but he still doesn't know.

The Broncos runner posted a note via Twitter on Thursday afternoon clarifying his position on all the news.

I just want to thank my teammates, friends, family, and coaches for helping me get through this process. I have the greatest organization in the Denver Broncos that will help me be back stronger than ever. To all my fans, thank you for the love and prayers I have been receiving in the last couple hours. We will not know til after the procedure if I am done for the season or if I can come back to help my team to (Super Bowl) #51

Just know that I will grind and push to be the best always and stronger than I was before. Love you all.

If Anderson ends up being placed on injured reserve, he will miss at least eight weeks, which could still leave room for the running back to return before the playoffs.
