Packers' Hyde on stopping Julio Jones: 'You've got to pray'

Team by team, the NFL is slowly learning that there's only so much you can do to stop Julio Jones.

Asked about the Atlanta Falcons' star wideout ahead of Sunday's matchup, Green Bay Packers safety Micah Hyde suggested that the only feasible strategy may be to hope and pray.

"The week of (the game), every night before you go to bed, you've got to pray," Hyde said, according to Ryan Wood of USA Today. "Game day, you've got to wake up, you've got to pray. He's just one of those guys that can get it done in all aspects of the game.

"Honestly, there's nothing he can't do. There's guys that come along every now and then, you've got your Calvin Johnson-type guys, and he's one of them. He's the best in the game right now."

Hyde and the Packers are well aware of the issues Jones creates in the secondary. Though Green Bay managed to escape with a win the last time the two teams went head-to-head - a Monday night meeting in December 2014 - Jones made the game far closer than it should have been with 11 receptions for 259 yards and one touchdown.

That ability to single-handedly destroy a defensive game plan has been put on display multiple times again this season, with his 12-catch, 300-yard performance against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4 standing as the most impressive of the bunch.

Making matters worse this time around, injuries have left the Packers without a pair of starting cornerbacks in Sam Shields and Damarious Randall. Whether it's Quinten Rollins, Ladarius Gunter, or Demetri Goodson drawing the always difficult assignment, the coaching staff will presumably do everything it can to provide help over the top and limit Jones' game-breaking plays.
