Buccaneers' Brent Grimes: Proving to be disruptive force in secondary

Grimes, who had a pair of passes defensed in the Week 7 victory over the 49ers, is among the league leaders in that category, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Analysis:

The offseason acquisition has been paying dividends, particularly over the last three weeks, when he's amassed seven pass break-ups overall, propelling him to fourth overall in the league, with all three players ahead of him having played one more game than Grimes has. The veteran ball-hawk has already totaled multiple passes defensed in four of his first six games in a Tampa uniform, and his current three-game stretch of multiple disruptions is the first such streak by a Buccaneer since Brian Kelly accomplished the feat in 2004. With current total of nine contested passes in six games, Grimes is on pace to match legendary corner Ronde Barber's career-high of 24 back in 2001, as well as exceed his personal best of 23 break-ups which he tallied in 2010 while with the Falcons.
