Ryan Fitzpatrick knows you think he's having a bad season. He knows you don't think he can turn it around. He knows you think he's never been that good.

He just doesn't care.

As his emotions and true feelings were set free after Sunday's benching in favor of Geno Smith, the New York Jets quarterback has had a lot of negative attention thrown his way. He said he's not listening to any of it and just focusing on the task at hand.

"I don't care," Fitzpatrick said Wednesday to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. "I don't care what is being written about me. I don't care what other people think about me. I really don't. When I'm done with football, I go home to my family. We’re going to carve pumpkins tonight. I'm just going to be Dad. I'm going to be like a normal person."

After throwing for 31 touchdowns last season, Fitzpatrick wants to prove his 2015 effort wasn't just a blip on the radar and get his team back on track.

"Maybe seven years ago, I would care about what was said about me," said Fitzpatrick. "I've accomplished more than anybody ever thought I was going to. But I’m not satisfied with the way the season has gone this year. I’m not satisfied with the way that I’ve played this year."
