Report: Broncos' Anderson didn't tear ACL, MRI shows

An MRI revealed that Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson did not suffer a torn ACL, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It was reported that Anderson had suffered a bone bruise in Monday's win over the Houston Texans, but there were fears the injury could be more severe and potentially season-ending before the Wednesday night MRI.

Head coach Gary Kubiak told reporters earlier that day that Anderson would be seeking a second opinion on his knee.

The Broncos are expected to update Anderson's status later Thursday.

While Devontae Booker has shown flashes in a limited role, Anderson is by far the club's most experienced runner. Losing the fourth-year back for the season could have been devastating for the Broncos' aspirations to a second straight Super Bowl title.

If Anderson is sidelined for several weeks as initially reported, he'll miss several key divisional matchups, with the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders upcoming in Weeks 8 and 9.
