Packers' Ty Montgomery: Limited in practice Wednesday

Montgomery was limited in practice Wednesday as a result of an illness, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

Montgomery's emergence has coincided with injuries befalling running backs James Starks (torn meniscus) and Eddie Lacy (ankle), the latter of which resides on injured reserve. With both out of commission in Week 7, Montgomery served as the Packers' every-down RB, turning nine carries into 60 yards and 10 receptions into 66 yards. With additional knowledge of the playbook under his belt, Knile Davis could eat into Montgomery's rush total Sunday in Atlanta. Furthermore, Don Jackson is also a candidate to receive some work, especially if he can prove that ball security won't be an issue with a wrap on his healing hand. Fortunately for Montgomery, his pass-catching chops (back-to-back outings with 10 receptions) should keep him as a viable part of the offense, and consequently, in the hearts and minds of owners.
