Steelers' Shazier: Our defense is 'looking like garbage'

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is disgusted with his team's play following a 27-16 loss to the New England Patriots.

The Steelers allowed Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount to run for 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries and were largely inefficient in trying to stop the ground game.

Shazier preached a need for accountability Monday.

"We didn't make tackles. Everyone is responsible," Shazier said to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "We have to hold each other accountable. We have to make sure we can be the defense we can be. Right now, we're looking like garbage. This is terrible right now."

Fellow Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones agreed with Shazier's assessment.

"We hold ourselves to a standard. The last couple of weeks we haven't been that defense. We have to get it corrected. We have to look at ourselves and see how we can get better."

The Steelers are on their bye week, and will likely be looking to fix their rushing defense after getting trounced by Blount on Sunday.
