The New England Patriots traded backup tight end A.J. Derby to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2017 fifth-round draft pick.
Earlier Tuesday, the Patriots acquired linebacker Kyle Van Noy from the Detroit Lions, so this next deal quickly clears up a roster spot.
Derby has played just 15 snaps in six games this season, but the Broncos are obviously looking for depth behind Virgil Green, who's been targeted sparingly this season.
