Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Ladarius Green is expected to practice with the team for the first time Tuesday, the Steelers announced.

Green has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list since Aug. 30 with an ankle injury that kept him off the field all spring and summer.

After he practices, the Steelers will have 21 days to activate him to their 53-man roster.

There were rumors over the summer that Green's still battling post-concussion symptoms, but both the player and team have denied those claims.

The 26-year-old signed a four-year, $20-million contract with the Steelers in free agency and was expected to step in as starter in place of the retired Heath Miller. With Green sidelined, Jesse James, 22, has taken on an every-down role and been productive. The prospect of getting both young tight ends on the field together has to have the Steelers' offensive coaches licking their chops.
