Houston Texans right tackle Derek Newton tore the patella tendons in both legs and may have suffered further damage during the Monday night matchup with the Denver Broncos, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The starting lineman was carted off the field with air casts on both of his legs in the first quarter after suffering a non-contact injury.

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain reports Newton is out for the season with the injuries.

Chris Clark replaced Newton on the right side of the offensive line.

The injury could negatively affect the team's running game, as Newton was Pro Football Focus' highest-ranked run blocker in 2015. He played in and started every game from 2013 to 2015.
