Chargers' star rookie TE Henry in concussion protocol

Brace Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Chargers announced Monday that their star rookie tight end Hunter Henry is in concussion protocol.

Head coach Mike McCoy said the issue came up after Sunday's overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons.

Henry recorded just a single reception Sunday for 16 yards. He had scored a touchdown in three consecutive weeks before the game.

Henry was the first tight end selected in this year's draft when the Chargers selected him with the 35th overall pick.

Mainstay Antonio Gates has just 17 grabs for 119 yards and two touchdowns this year to Henry's 20 catches, 326 yards, and three scores.
