Report: Josh Brown not expected to appeal being placed on exempt list

A move to place Josh Brown on the commissioner's exempt list appears set to be processed without a fight.

The New York Giants kicker is not expected to appeal the NFL's decision as the league continues to review new details regarding his history of domestic violence, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Brown was placed on the exempt list Friday after police documents revealed that he'd admitted to multiple incidents of abuse against his ex-wife.

The two most notable cases in which the league utilized the exempt list in recent years include those of Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy. Each missed all but one game in 2014 as legal proceedings took their course, with Hardy serving an additional four-game ban upon returning to the field the following season.

Brown was suspended one game to start the 2016 campaign, but the league has insisted it will now review the new information relating to his case and evaluate it under the personal conduct policy. A revised protocol implemented in 2014 stipulates that players are to be suspended at least six games for first-time offenses involving domestic violence and that a second violation would result in a lifetime ban.
