Falcons HC Quinn says 4th-down overtime gamble a 'gut feeling'

Dan Quinn's gamble did not pay off.

The Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers were knotted up at 30-30 in overtime Sunday - facing a fourth-and-one from the Atlanta 45, the Falcons coach elected to go for it rather than punt the ball away. The next play resulted in a one-yard loss and a turnover on downs.

The Chargers would get the ball in Falcons territory and kick the winning field goal to send the Falcons to 4-3.

After the game, Quinn said the fourth-down call was simply a gut feeling, "plain and simple."

The Falcons have now lost two-straight since racing out to a 4-1 start. They'll face the Green Bay Packers next week, hoping to put aside any worries of a collapse that rivals last season's implosion after a stellar 5-0 start.
