NFL, union disagree on who pushed for quick resolution in Josh Brown case

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The league and the NFLPA disagree over who pushed for a fast resolution to the Josh Brown disciplinary case, after the New York Giants kicker was arrested on domestic violence charges in 2015.

The NFL contends the union pushed to get Brown's punishment meted out quickly, a source told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, while the NFLPA denies any involvement in deciding punishments under the personal conduct policy.

A one-game suspension was handed down to Brown prior to the resolution of a King County, Washington police investigation which revealed the veteran kicker admitted to multiple instances of domestic abuse.

The league and union appear to be blaming one another for the hasty sanction against Brown in the wake of two years of the disastrous handling of multiple domestic violence situations, including that of stars Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, and Adrian Peterson.

Brown is now on the commissioners exempt list pending further investigation.
