Redskins' Josh Doctson: Placed on IR

Doctson (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

This transaction has been rumored for the last few weeks, as Doctson continues to be plagued by soreness in both of his Achilles tendons even though testing hasn't revealed any structural damage. The hope is that he can make a full recovery with a few months of rest, but it's unclear whether he's viewed as a candidate to return from injured reserve. The team may just want to wait until next season, considering it already has a solid wideout trio of DeSean Jackson (shoulder), Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder. Of course, there's always a chance injuries could thin the group out, which might lead to an earlier reevaluation of Doctson's progress. Regardless, the 2106 first-round selection has virtually no chance to help fantasy teams this season. Next year could be a different story, as Jackson and Garcon are both slated to hit free agency.
