Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, in a post on Uninterrupted.

Foster took the league by storm after going undrafted out of Tennessee in 2009, winning the rushing title in 2010 as a member of the Houston Texans. The 30-year-old was named to four Pro Bowls and led the NFL in rushing touchdowns twice (2010, 2012).

Only Adrian Peterson rushed for more touchdowns during the duration of Foster's career.

Foster wrote a lengthy letter to the fans, saying that he could no longer withstand the punishment of professional football.

The running back ran for 5 yards during the Dolphins' 28-25 victory over the Buffalo Bills, adding a reception for 4 yards. Foster finished the season with 55 rushing yards on 22 attempts in four games with the Dolphins.

Foster ends his career as the Texans' all-time rushing leader.
