Prescott snubbing late-night TV spot to spend bye week with granny

Dak Prescott is doing his best to keep his stardom on the field.

Heading into his first-career bye week with a 5-1 record, the Dallas Cowboys' rookie quarterback turned down an appearance on late-night television and an international endorsement prospect to spend his free time in Louisiana with his grandmother.

"It's football and family," Prescott told Clarence E. Hill of the Star-Telegram. "That's what I focus on. If I have time to get away and spend time with my family that I'm not going to get to do for awhile that I haven't done for a while. I'm going to take advantage of it.

"It's more important to me to spend time with my family than go with those deals."

While other young athletes may jump at the chance to appear on Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, Stephen Colbert, or Jimmy Kimmel, Prescott couldn't even be bothered to remember which of them asked for his presence.

"One of them was a late-night show with somebody," said Prescott. "Another one was out of country and that was definitely no. Those deals with be there. If they really want it bad enough, they will find a way."

Prescott says he wants to keep his off-time during the season for rest and relaxation, staying focused on football, and all that extra stuff can wait until the offseason.
