Cowboys' Tony Romo: Likely won't practice immediately after bye week

Romo (back) likely won't be cleared for practice immediately after the Cowboys' Week 7 bye, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Analysis:

On Wednesday morning, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relayed that the Cowboys will stick with Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback in Week 8 against the Eagles, thereby relegating Romo to backup duties, at best. If Romo doesn't practice to start the week, as expected, he'll likely find himself on the Cowboys' inactive list yet again. During the bye week, Romo will remain at team headquarters and stay involved in the rehab process with an eye toward ramping up his workload. However, in order to take part in "intense" football activities, his core and back must be strengthened, according to head coach Jason Garrett.
