Cowboys' Tony Romo: Likely out until at least Week 9

Romo (back) is not expected to be ready to play until Week 9 at the earliest, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.

Analysis:

It was revealed Wednesday that the Cowboys are planning to start Dak Prescott in Week 8, which is an indication that Romo will not be ready to go coming out of the team's Week 7 bye. Romo could be ready to go the following week, but at this point the Cowboys will likely be sure he is back at 100 percent before even considering starting him. Even then, the team could opt to stick with Prescott, who has led the Cowboys to a 5-1 record in Romo's absence while posting a quarterback rating of 114.7 or better in four straight games.
