Report: Cowboys' Prescott to remain starter in Week 8

Benny Sieu / USA TODAY Sports

Dak Prescott will remain the starter for at least one more game. The rookie quarterback will start the Dallas Cowboys' next game, Week 8, against the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports, citing a source.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise as he was initially expected to be out six-to-10 weeks after breaking a bone in his back in the third week of preseason. On Monday, it was reported Romo is at least a week away from practicing with the team.

In Romo's absence, Prescott has navigated the Cowboys to a 5-1 record and the lead in the NFC East. Dallas has a bye this week and will tangle with its division foes on Sunday night the following week.

Prescott leads all rookie passers with 1,486 passing yards, seven touchdown passes, and just one interception after six games. He will go head to head with fellow rookie Carson Wentz - the second overall pick in this year's draft - in Week 8.
