Jerry Jones: No timeline for Cowboys' QB decision

The football world probably shouldn't expect word on the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback situation any time soon.

In the latest comments regarding the team's increasingly difficult decision, owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that there is no timetable for the team to choose between Tony Romo and Dak Prescott as the starter.

"I don't have any idea, no one does, as to what the situation will be a game or games down the road," Jones said, according to Drew Davison of The Star-Telegram. "We don’t have any idea. The main thing is we’re all looking at the same music and we all feel the same thing. The team is positive with each other.

"We feel like we can make mistakes and overcome them. Everybody feels good about all of what we’re doing. But we also feel equally good based upon the best thing you go in the past about Romo. So we don’t have to be definitive in drawing bright lines right now."

Following Romo's preseason back injury, it was assumed that he'd regain the starting role upon his healthy return. While that's still possible, the team's success with rookie Prescott at the helm has complicated matters substantially.

Romo has yet to get back on the practice field, so it appears unlikely he'll be cleared to play against the Philadelphia Eagles following this week's bye.

Dallas will presumably have to make a decision shortly thereafter, though, and another strong performance from Prescott that further solidifies the Cowboys' place atop the NFC East could make it incredibly difficult to justify a change.
