Jets' Marshall: 'We're not a good team right now'

New York Jets wideout Brandon Marshall's optimism has vanished.

A week ago, Marshall said the Jets were in "perfect position" despite starting the season with a 1-4 record.

Now, at 1-5 after a loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, Marshall's outlook has changed.

"I was shocked when we were 1-2 ... The reality is we're not a good team right now," Marshall told reporters after the game.

Much of the blame must fall on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was benched after throwing his NFL-leading 11th interception Monday.

The injury to Marshall's fellow starting receiver Eric Decker isn't helping either.

But the Jets have deeper problems. They are old and slow at key positions on both sides of the ball, and a coaching staff that seemed to be a breath of fresh air last season is getting stale fast.

At 1-5, the Jets' playoff hopes may already be dashed. If there's any reason for Marshall to rekindle his optimism, it's the team's schedule over the next month. Winnable games against the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams could conceivably put the Jets at 5-5 before their next litmus test game against the hated New England Patriots.
