49ers' Kelly confirms Kaepernick will remain starter vs. Bucs

After the San Francisco 49ers' blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, head coach Chip Kelly declined to commit to Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback moving forward.

However, Kelly confirmed to reporters Monday that Kaepernick will indeed remain under center for the 49ers' Week 7 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kaepernick had an uneven performance in his first start of 2016, but Kelly is likely giving the veteran pivot time, as he did with Blaine Gabbert, who started the 49ers' first five games despite poor play.

San Francisco started positively against the Bills, scoring 13 first-half points, but was unable to finish drives in the second half.

Kaepernick connected with wide receiver Torrey Smith for a 53-yard score early on and led the team with 66 rushing yards, highlighting the big-play ability he has.

However, he looked rusty and inaccurate, completing just under 45 percent of his passes for a 6.4 yards per attempt average.
