Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger: Week 9 return anticipated

Roethlisberger (knee) underwent surgery to repair a slight tear in his left meniscus Monday, but he is expected to return in Week 9 against the Ravens, the Observer-Reporter's Dale Lolley reports.

Analysis:

Roethlisberger has already been ruled out of this Sunday's top-heavy tussle against the Patriots, but with a bye week following that encounter, the signal-caller's absence is only anticipated to last one game. This expectation comes after Roethlisberger played through his injury during the second half of Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, before having the issue repaired with surgery Monday. Although Roethlisberger's status will still need to be monitored for updates prior to his forecasted Week 9 return, the Steelers and his fantasy owners should be relieved that he'll avoid more serious time out following Sunday's scare. With Roethlisberger sidelined this weekend, Landry Jones is slated to start at quarterback versus New England, with Zach Mettenberger serving as his backup.
