Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger: Will miss at least one game

Roethlisberger, who suffered a torn meniscus and will undergo surgery Monday, will miss this week's game against the Patriots, after which his return is open-ended, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Analysis:

The one fortunate thing here is that the schedule works out favorably for the Steelers and Roethlisberger, as the team has its bye following the Week 7 matchup against the Patriots. Following the bye, Pittsburgh will start to plot out when their QB might be able to play again, while Schefter feels this type of injury typically has a 2-to-6 week range before a player is fit to play. Schefter also mentioned that Roethlisberger's procedure is toward the lesser side of severity when it comes to a torn meniscus. It's worth noting Roethlisberger is about as tough as they come, so that won't be an issue, but more when he can get medically cleared to play. In the meantime, Landry Jones will take over and lead the Steelers against the Pats.
