49ers' Kelly won't commit to Kaepernick remaining starter

San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly would not commit to Colin Kaepernick remaining starter after Sunday's blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills.

"We'll see," Kelly told reporters when asked if Kaepernick, who started for the first time this season Sunday, will start again next week.

Kaepernick was 13 of 29 for 187 yards and one touchdown in the game. He showed some pep with his legs, but struggled to get past his first read as a passer. In many ways, he looked like the same player we saw on the field the last three seasons - and nothing like the dynamic weapon he was in 2012, when he took the 49ers to the Super Bowl.

It's possible Kelly is simply trying to keep the 49ers' next opponents, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, guessing about the team's starter. Or perhaps he is seriously considering a return to Blaine Gabbert as starter. Or maybe he will elevate Christian Ponder from third string to starter. With Kelly, anything is possible.
