Ajayi enjoying breakout game as Foster remains limited in return

Jay Ajayi is making the absolute most of his latest opportunity.

With Arian Foster clearly limited in his return from injury, only seeing occasional snaps after spending the first few drives on the sideline, Ajayi is working as the lead back Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After posting a few underwhelming performances to open the 2016 season, the second-year back has the Miami Dolphins on the verge of a colossal upset.

Ajayi had turned 18 carries into 112 yards and one touchdown through three quarters of play, nearly matching his production totals from his first four appearances of the season combined.

The Dolphins' running back situation has been a revolving door in Foster's three-game absence, and the veteran should slowly see his role expanded as he settles in. This is the kind of performance that would help Ajayi earn the trust of the coaching staff moving forward, though, and that could be a major development for Miami if Foster's injury troubles continue.
