Cowboys' Tony Romo: Part of complicated situation with Prescott

Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones said Friday that there is "nothing simple" about the team's current quarterback situation, with Romo (back) expected to return soon and Dak Prescott thriving, The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Jones was asked whether Prescott will retain the starting job if he leads Dallas to a fifth consecutive victory Sunday in Green Bay. While he didn't directly answer the question, Jones is no longer denying that such a scenario is possible, as he did through the first few weeks of the season. He did say Monday that Romo is still the No. 1 quarterback, but then said Tuesday that the situation requires "a tolerance for ambiguity." At this point, it's at least possible Romo will rejoin the team as a backup, with the current expectation being that he'll be available for Week 8 or 9.
