Report: Vikings sign former No. 1 overall pick Long to 1-year deal

The Minnesota Vikings have signed former No. 1 overall draft pick Jake Long to a one-year deal, USA TODAY Sports' Tom Pelissero reports.

The Vikings lost left tackle Matt Kalil to a season-ending injury in September, then placed right tackle Andre Smith on IR this week.

The 31-year-old Long's best days are behind him, but he can help stabilize one side of an offensive line that is suddenly bereft of talent.

Long joins quarterback Sam Bradford as the second former top draft pick the Vikings have acquired this season.
