Cowboys' Williams: Elliott a 'real-life monster'

Not many have a better view of Ezekiel Elliott's dominance of late than Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams.

After the running back rushed for over 130 yards for the third consecutive game Sunday, Williams came up with an apt description for the rookie's abilities.

"Zeke is a monster, like a real-life monster," Williams said, according to Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News. "Somebody to be that young and to come in here and run the ball like that, it makes me want to block because I know what he's going to do. He's going to finish or just like (Sunday), he can pop it.

"So whenever you have a guy like that, that makes blocking fun. You're not just going out there to block to just catch wind. Now you're going out there to block because you have a guy who can take over a game."

Elliott's career got off to a relatively slow start, as he failed to break the 100-yard rushing mark over his first two games. But since then, he has looked unstoppable, and currently leads the NFL in rushing with 546 yards.

Per Pro Football Focus, Elliott's jump in production can partly be attributed to work he's doing after a defender first gets a hand on him, as his average yards per carry after contact have skyrocketed.

  • Week 1: 2.1
  • Week 2: 2.0
  • Week 3: 2.6
  • Week 4: 3.3
  • Week 5: 7.4

His 546 yards are the fourth most by a rookie in the first five games of season, trailing only Eric Dickerson (645), Adrian Peterson (607), and Billy Sims (560).

So, yeah, "monster" fits Elliott perfectly.
