Ravens' Joe Flacco: Struggles in home loss to Washington

Flacco completed 30 of 46 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-10 loss to Washington.

Analysis:

Flacco got off to a strong start, finding TE Crockett Gillmore for a seven-yard touchdown on the opening drive. It was all downhill thereafter, with the Baltimore passing attack struggling mightily after Steve Smith (ankle) left for good in the first quarter. Flacco settled for dump-offs the rest of the afternoon, completing 11 passes to tight ends and seven to running backs, compared to only 12 to wide receivers. The Ravens didn't have a pass play longer than 15 yards all game, despite facing a Washington secondary that has been significantly thinned out by injuries. Flacco has actually been reasonably accurate all season, but the Baltimore passing game simply isn't explosive, even when Smith is healthy. Flacco will thus remain an unexciting option for Week 6 against an improved Giants defense at the Meadowlands.
