Cardinals' Arians: Michael Floyd is pressing in contract year

Joe Nicholson / USA TODAY Sports

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd has struggled to get on track this season and head coach Bruce Arians believes it may be because he's in a contract year.

"I'm sure that has a lot to do with it," Arians said when asked if Floyd's struggles could be linked to his impending free agency.

Floyd was held without a catch in Thursday's win over the San Francisco 49ers and has only caught 12 passes for 170 yards in five games this season. Arians insists Floyd is pressing and therefore not completing "natural, ordinary catches that he makes in his sleep."

Floyd has also seen his playing time reduced and was only targeted three times Thursday, which Arians admits is an inevitability with the way the fifth-year receiver has played.

"If Mike was having the type of year I was hoping he would have, he'd be out there a bunch more," Arians said.
