Panthers' Thomas Davis: Does not practice Thursday

Davis (hamstring) did not participate in practice on Thursday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.

Analysis:

Davis exited Sunday's loss to the Falcons early after going down with the injury, but it was reported by head coach Ron Rivera earlier in the week that the veteran linebacker would be fine for Week 6's tilt with the Buccaneers on Monday night. His absence could just be the Panthers giving him extra rest, but look for more updates this weekend to confirm his status. If he were ruled out, David Mayo would likely take over as the starter.
