Wilson to wear custom knee brace vs. Jets

Russell Wilson will have some additional support for his injured knee when he takes the field against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback, who was forced from last week's win over the San Francisco 49ers with a sprained MCL, will be under center wearing a custom knee brace, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Wilson's brace, Rapoport adds, is similar to the ones worn by players returning from ACL injuries.

Though rehab specialist Drew Marcos conceded that the quarterback may not have the type of movement ability that's long made him a nightmare for opposing defenses, he told Rapoport that Wilson will be able to do everything required of him in the passing game.

"He's looking pretty good," said Drew Marcos, the rehab specialist who has worked with Wilson for years. "Obviously he's not 100 percent, but he's able to do what he needs to do to lead the team as the QB. He's not going to be his typical mobile self, but he'll be able to sit in the pocket and do what he does."

Wilson being in the lineup, despite the limitations he'll deal with in the short term, is an extremely positive development for a Seahawks offense seeking to build upon last week's breakout.

Seattle should rely heavily upon the ground game and quick-developing pass concepts to take pressure off their star signal-caller and ensure he avoids taking too many hits from a dominant Jets defensive front.
