Charles active vs. Saints, reportedly could be limited

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is officially active for a Week 7 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

Charles had been listed as questionable Friday after dealing with some swelling in his surgically repaired knee during the practice week.

The caution with which the Chiefs have eased him back seemingly hinted at a possibility that he'd be held out against New Orleans, but Sunday morning reports indicated that the team was optimistic he'd at least be able to take on a limited role.

Spencer Ware, who recorded 131 yards on 24 carries in last week's win over the Oakland Raiders, should remain the lead back for at least another game as Charles is brought along slowly.

While the plan to have Charles regain his featured role remains in full effect, the Chiefs can afford to be patient as the running game continues to move the ball with consistency despite his limitations thus far.
