Report: Charles to make 2016 debut Sunday vs. Steelers

Jake Roth / USA TODAY Sports

Running back Jamaal Charles will make his 2016 debut Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Charles missed the season's first three games as he recovered from ACL surgery performed last fall.

Charles, 29, participated in limited team activities at practice this week, an upgrade over recent weeks.

With Charcandrick West ruled out of Sunday's game with an ankle injury, Charles is expected to split backfield work with Spencer Ware. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Ware handle most of the workload as the Chiefs seek to ease Charles' transition back to active duty.
